If a memorial has deteriorated and is no longer doing justice to your loved one, it doesn't always need replacing. In many cases, skilled restoration work can bring it back to a condition you'll be proud of.
Re-Lettering & Inscription
Weathered inscriptions can fade to the point of illegibility over decades. Jonathan re-cuts the original lettering by hand, or adds new inscriptions — for example, when a second name needs to be added to an existing memorial.
Professional Cleaning
Years of lichen, moss, biological growth and general weathering can mask the original beauty of a stone. We use appropriate cleaning methods for each stone type, restoring the appearance without causing surface damage.
Re-Levelling & Re-Setting
Ground movement and soil settlement can cause memorials to lean, tilt or become unstable over time. We safely re-level and re-set the stone to ensure it stands correctly — and safely — for years to come.
Chip & Crack Repair
Chips, cracks and surface damage — whether from weathering, accidental impact or age — can be repaired using specialist materials that are sympathetic to the original stone, maintaining the integrity of the memorial's appearance.
Lead Letter Replacement
Traditional memorials often use hand-set lead lettering, which can become loose, discoloured or lost over time. We can replace individual letters or carry out a full re-lead, restoring the traditional look of the inscription.

Where a memorial requires comprehensive attention across multiple areas, Jonathan will assess the full scope of work and carry out a complete renovation — leaving the stone clean, stable, re-inscribed and restored to its best.

Many renovation projects can be completed without you needing to visit the cemetery at all — we'll keep you informed throughout and send photographs on completion.
