Memorial Renovations

Restore the Stone. Honour the Memory.

Over time, even the finest memorials can weather, fade or become damaged. Jonathan can restore an existing memorial to a condition fitting of the person it commemorates – whether that's re-cutting faded lettering, cleaning years of weathering, or carrying out full structural repairs.

These are starting points, not a fixed list. Jonathan can work with any wording you bring to him – your own words, a favourite verse, a meaningful line from a song. Click any inscription below to copy it for reference. If you'd like help deciding, just ask.

Poetic & Literary

Verses and lines that have long been used on memorials. Many families find that a poet captures something they couldn't quite put into their own words.

Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day.

Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there; I do not sleep.

Mary Elizabeth Frye

Traditional hymn

A life shared with you was a life well lived.

Devoted husband and father. Loved beyond measure.

My heart, my home, my forever.

For a Parent

Inscriptions for a mother or father — honouring the love, sacrifice and guidance that shapes a life.

A mother's love is forever.

The world's best dad. Loved and missed every day.

You gave us roots and taught us to fly.

She was our anchor and our light.

A loving mother, grandmother and friend. You are our forever.

Your hands built our home. Your love made it.

Lettering Styles

The Way Words Look Matters Too

Once the wording is chosen, Jonathan will help you select a lettering style that suits both the inscription and the character of the stone. Different styles carry different feelings — from the formality of raised Roman capitals to the warmth of flowing italic script.

All lettering is hand-cut directly into the stone, not applied or printed. The depth, spacing and proportion of each letter is considered individually.
